National Voting Rights Organization endorses Christina Bohannan for Congress

The Voter Protection Project announces support for University of Iowa Law Professor and former Iowa State Rep. Christina Bohannan for Iowa’s 1st Congressional District

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Voter Protection Project (VPP), the nation’s largest PAC dedicated to electing voting rights champions and holding Republicans accountable for their attacks on democracy directly at the ballot box, is endorsing Christina Bohannan for Congress in Iowa’s 1st District, where she came within a quarter of a percentage p of beating Republican incumbent Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks last cycle.

“We are thrilled to see that Christina Bohannan is back to finish the job this cycle in IA-01,” said Heather Grevenworth, Executive Director of The Voter Protection Project. ”Voters in Iowa’s 1st District are smart and want someone who will work for them, not spend their time in Congress appeasing Donald Trump. We think Miller-Meeks will have her hands full desperately trying to defend her extreme voting record, and we are proud to endorse Christina Bohannan, a proven local leader.”

“Mariannette Miller-Meeks has had three terms in Congress – three chances to do right by the people of Iowa. Instead, she has taken over $4 million from corporate special interests and done nothing but vote their way. And she has put partisan politics over Iowans again and again.  From cutting Medicaid, to siding with DOGE’s devastating cuts to Social Security, to enabling unelected, unaccountable billionaires like Elon Musk – Miller-Meeks has forgotten about us.  It’s time someone put Iowa first.” said Christina Bohannan, candidate for Iowa’s 1st Congressional District.

Last cycle VPP supported over 30 voting rights champions, including newly elected Senator Ruben Gallego (AZ), Senator Elissa Slotkin (MI), Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08), Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05), and Congressman Josh Riley (NY-19). Without a Democratic majority in Congress, Trump and his MAGA extremists will continue their relentless assault on democracy, chipping away at our most fundamental rights. That’s why VPP is laser-focused on identifying and electing fearless leaders like Christina Bohannan, who will put Democrats back in control—ensuring every American’s sacred right to vote is protected, expanded, and never threatened.
