The Voter Protection Project announces support for Michelle Vallejo in a rematch against freshman Rep. Monica De La Cruz in Texas’ 15th Congressional District
SACRAMENTO, CA – The Voter Protection Project (VPP), the largest national PAC focused on electing voting rights champions and holding Republicans accountable for their attacks on our Democracy, proudly announces support for small business owner and Democratic challenger Michelle Vallejo.
“Monica De La Cruz has repeatedly tried to undermine our democracy, spouting baseless conspiracy theories and supporting efforts to overturn the 2020 Presidential election,” said Heather Grevenworth, Executive Director of the Voter Protection Project. “Michelle Vallejo knows that our right to vote is fundamental to everything we believe in. She’ll make sure our elections are free, fair and secure, without restricting Texans’ right to vote. If we’re going to defend our democracy from extremists like Monica De La Cruz, we need to elect Michelle Vallejo to Congress.”
“As a small business owner, I know how hard South Texas families are working to make ends meet,” said Michelle Vallejo, candidate for Texas’ 15th Congressional District.“ But Monica De La Cruz is making life harder for them. Monica has made it clear that she doesn’t value fair elections or our personal freedoms. That’s why she supported efforts to overturn the 2020 election and wants to make it harder to vote. In Congress, I will never stop fighting to defend our rights, protect the right to vote, expand access to the ballot, and restore integrity to our elections.”
Last cycle VPP raised over $6 million to support voting rights champions including Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona, Rep. Don Davis (NC-01), Rep. Emilia Sykes (OH-13), and Rep. Yadira Caraveo (CO-08). In 2023, they’re helping Democratic incumbents and challengers with critical resources to win in 2024. With Republicans trying to steal elections by restricting access to the ballot box, regaining a Democratic majority in the House is crucial for passing voting rights legislation. Supporting critical candidates who are committed to defending voting rights like Michelle Vallejo in Texas’ 15th District is vital to VPP’s mission.
