National Voting Rights Group Endorses Raquel Terán Ahead of AZ-03 Primary

The Voter Protection Project announces support for former Arizona State Senator and community activist Raquel Terán in Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Voter Protection Project (VPP), the largest national PAC focused on electing voting rights champions and holding Republicans accountable for their attacks on democracy, is endorsing Raquel Terán in Arizona’s open 3rd Congressional district.

“Look across the country at the incredible folks stepping up to run for Congress and you will be hard-pressed to find someone with as strong a resume fighting to protect and expand voting rights as Raquel,” said Heather Grevenworth, Executive Director of The Voter Protection Project. “It is our honor to endorse Raquel Terán for Congress. She has a proven track record both in activating and advocating for her community and an impressive legislative record in the State Senate. We believe that once an organizer, always an organizer and we look forward to seeing her bring those skills to Congress and get things done. ”

“In 2006, Mi Familia Vota handed me a clipboard and taught me how to register voters. That’s where my advocacy started, and it’s only grown since then,” said Raquel Terán, candidate for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District. “I’ve stood against extremism; I’ve fought for a better future for everyone in my community. Now, I’m proud to stand alongside the Voter Protection Project as we continue to organize and do that work at the federal level too. Together, we’re going to ensure that everyone in Arizona’s Third District has a voice in Congress.”

Last cycle VPP supported 80+ voting rights champions including Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona, Rep. Don Davis (NC-01), Rep. Emilia Sykes (OH-13), and Rep. Yadira Caraveo (CO-08). In 2023, they’re helping Democratic incumbents and challengers with critical resources to win in 2024. With Republicans trying to steal elections by restricting access to the ballot box, regaining a Democratic majority in the House is crucial for passing voting rights legislation. Supporting candidates like Raquel Terán who will be a true champion for voting rights and voter access in Congress is critical to our mission.
