Rudy Salas Earns National Voting Rights Group Endorsement in CA-22

The Voter Protection Project announces support for former California Assemblyman Rudy Salas in his run for the highly competitive Central Valley-based 22nd Congressional District of California

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Voter Protection Project (VPP), the largest national PAC focused on electing voting rights champions and holding Republicans accountable for their attacks on democracy directly at the ballot box, is endorsing Rudy Salas in California’s 22nd Congressional District.

“The Voter Protection Project proudly endorses Rudy Salas for Congress. He is an experienced legislator with deep roots in the Central Valley,” said Heather Grevenworth, Executive Director of The Voter Protection Project. “Rudy is running against an unpopular and unaccomplished member of Congress who only received 51% of the vote last time around. The stakes are clear, if we don’t flip seats like CA-22 we won’t have Speaker Hakeem Jeffries and that’s unacceptable in this fight to protect our Democracy. ”

“I’m honored to have the support of the Voter Protection Project. Empowering everyday citizens to have their voices heard at the ballot box is what makes our country and our democracy strong and I’m proud to work with those who further that core American value,” said Rudy Salas, candidate for California’s 22nd Congressional District.

Last cycle VPP supported 80+ voting rights champions including Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona, Rep. Don Davis (NC-01), Rep. Emilia Sykes (OH-13), and Rep. Yadira Caraveo (CO-08). Without a Democratic majority passing bills like the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act won’t happen, that’s why VPP is identifying and supporting candidates who will put Democratic lawmakers in the driver’s seat to ensure the sacred right to vote for every American is secure. VPP endorses candidates like Rudy Salas to ensure they have the necessary resources and support to flip key districts like CA-22.
