Voter Protection Project Leads National Effort to Combat Voter Suppression

Voter Protection Project (VPP), formed in 2019, is a leading political arm working to end partisan gerrymandering and voter suppression across the country. VPP is advocating for an aggressive agenda to expand voting rights and fight back against Republican attempts to disenfranchise voters. The Supreme Court’s 2019 Common Cause ruling opened up the floodgates for Republicans to employ partisan gerrymandering across the country. In light of the ruling, VPP has been taking the fight to Republicans state-by-state supporting candidates for office at the federal and state levels that are champions for voter equality.

In its first year, VPP raised and donated over six figures for its endorsed candidates, mounted early independent expenditures in Kentucky and South Carolina to defeat key Trump allies Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham and invested critical resources in Get-out-the-Vote efforts to win key Virginia State Legislative Districts – resulting in Democrats controlling both chambers for the first time since 1995.

VPP has also been the leading political arm standing up to Donald Trump’s errand boy in Congress, Devin Nunes. VPP has fought back against Nunes’ rampage of frivolous lawsuits to suppress the first amendment rights of his critics. In an effort to protect free speech, VPP has supported the legal defense fund of one of Nunes’ main targets Twitter Parody Account @DevinCow.

VPP committed to flipping State Legislatures where voter suppression has been rampant

VPP invested in GOTV efforts and candidate contributions to flip Virginia’s legislature in November, 2019 – leading to Democrats controlling both chambers for the first time since 1995.

VPP is working to flip state legislatures across the country. One of VPP’s main targets in 2019 is the Texas State House, where Democrats need to net 9 seats to win back the chamber. Texas has been among the worst actors executing sweeping voter roll purges, limiting access to polling locations and targeting immigrant communities.

VPP mounting early effort to flip U.S. Senate & Hold the House

VPP has taken a leading effort to flip the United States Senate with a particular focus on Michigan, North Carolina, Iowa, Texas, South Carolina, Kentucky, Colorado, Maine and Arizona. VPP is working with our most vulnerable U.S. House Members to protect Democratic gains made in 2018 and also expand the electoral map.

VPP leading political arm taking on Trump ally Devin Nunes

VPP has also worked to expand the house map, playing an active role in districts held by Donald Trump’s staunchest allies. Congressman Devin Nunes, Donald Trump’s errand boy and staunch defender in Congress has continued his rampage of baseless lawsuits against critics. Nunes has consistently threatened VPP and is subpoenaing records relating to VPP’s raising of funds to support the legal defense of one of Nunes’ top-targets, Twitter Account @DevinCow. The anonymous Twitter account has been a repeated target of Nunes after pointing out the truth that Congressman Nunes is clearly a fake farmer. In an effort to protect free speech, VPP has provided $7,000 to support the legal defense of Twitter Parody Account @DevinCow.
